About Me
Hey there! I’m James — a big kid at heart who swapped climbing rocks for snapping shots. My journey from rock climbing enthusiast to full-time photographer is a bit of a wild ride, filled with scraped knees, plenty of laughs, and an ever-growing passion for capturing life’s best moments.
Before I picked up a camera, I was juggling all sorts of roles. I was scaling cliffs as a climbing instructor, competing as a climber, and even whipping up some (questionable) culinary masterpieces as a chef. Through all the adventures, one thing stayed the same: my love for simple joys and the amazing people who make life worthwhile.
I’m still that guy who feels like he’s 12 on the inside, finding excitement in the little things and always making new friends along the way. These days, as a husband and dad to two brilliant little girls, I’m more inspired than ever to show them what it means to chase your dreams and live life to the fullest.
At 40, I took the leap to start my photography business, fuelled by a desire to spend more time with my family while creating work I’m genuinely proud of. It’s been a heck of a journey, but with the support of my incredible partner and the chaos-filled joy of parenthood, I’ve loved every moment.
Today, I get to tell stories through my lens — whether it’s the energy of a buzzing event, the quiet magic of a family portrait, or the beauty of a fleeting moment. Photography isn’t just a job for me; it’s how I share life’s adventures and keep that inner kid alive.

I have really enjoyed working with James. I have never had to be filmed for anything other than silly family stuff, and was very nervous about the whole thing. James' supportive, professional and friendly manner was amazing. We had fun, learnt a lot and managed to get the whole thing wrapped up with great ease and enjoyment. We used JBL Creative to film a public lecture. James was very professional, thorough and friendly, from our first chat about the brief to the delivery of the video material. We had to request further changes to the video due to our institution's internal specifications for video material, and James kindly did those for us as well.
James was professional and on time, throughout the day/night he snapped away without getting in people faces lots of natural photos of people enjoying themselves. Friendly and just got on with it.
